SEG = Silicone Edge Graphics – a print, typically onto a polyester based textile fabric which has a silicone ‘keder’ (usually 14x3mm) sewn onto the edge. They can seamlessly cover a large area, with prints up to 5m wide on the smallest dimension. The textiles typically come in three types, display fabrics for general use, lightbox fabrics for backlit images and block-out fabric, which stops any light coming through from behind.

TFS = Tension Frame System – a metal (usually aluminium) frame which has a channel for the SEG prints’ keder to push into, pulling the textile tight giving it ‘tension’, so the print is held flat in the frame. The frame systems can be made up from various profiles, such as ones that can be screwed directly to a wall or mounted in an aperture. Other will be freestanding and can be lit with LED’s to make a lightbox. The other type of TFS are the modular exhibition frame systems such as beMatrix and Aluvision, where frames are used to make complete stands (even double-deckers!) which can be covered in SEG graphics or rigid panels.

What’s so great about TFS and SEG then? Reuse! The frames, whatever type your using, can be use time-and-time again, on different jobs too. The textile prints can also be rolled or folded and reused again – great for eco-conscious stand builders and exhibitors, as well as keeping the budget down. Recycling is also easy, as aluminium is infinitely recyclable and the polyester graphics can be recycled after use too.
